Associate Pastor of Families
Position Overview
The Associate Pastor of Families serves as a spiritual shepherd and mentor to families, children, and youth at By Faith Baptist Church. This role is responsible for developing a Christ-centered, safe, and nurturing environment where families can grow in faith, develop Christ-like character, and build strong relationships within the church community. The Associate Pastor of Families will teach, disciple, and equip parents, children, and youth to live out their faith in daily life, maintaining alignment with the doctrine and mission of By Faith Baptist Church.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead and oversee discipleship programs for families, children, and youth, including Sunday School, midweek gatherings, Bible studies, Sunday Evenings, and special events. Equip parents to be the primary spiritual leaders in their homes.
Provide biblical instruction on moral, social, and family issues, guiding all ages to apply God’s Word in areas such as relationships, technology, cultural pressures, and spiritual growth. Preach and teach in coordination with the Senior Pastor.
Develop and implement comprehensive family ministry programs, including children’s ministry, youth ministry, and parent support. Plan and lead events that promote spiritual growth and fellowship (e.g., camps, retreats, service projects, outreach events).
Provide pastoral care, counseling, and encouragement to families, children, and youth. Be available for calls, visits, and crisis support as needed.
Recruit, train, and support volunteers for family ministry programs. Foster a culture of teamwork and spiritual growth among ministry leaders and volunteers.
Collaborate with church leadership, parents, and ministry teams to strengthen family ministry. Engage with the local community through outreach, service projects, and partnerships with schools and organizations.
Manage documentation, communication, and logistics related to family ministry events and programs. Keep the church informed through newsletters, reports, and announcements.
Ensure all teaching and ministry practices are in full agreement with the doctrine and mission of By Faith Baptist Church and the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
Qualifications
A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a consistent Christian walk.
Agreement with and commitment to the doctrinal statement of By Faith Baptist Church.
Demonstrated calling and experience in family, children, or youth ministry.
Strong skills in teaching, communication, and relationship building.
Ability to lead, organize, and motivate families, students, and volunteers.
Willingness to work flexible hours as needed for ministry needs and events.
Bachelor’s degree in ministry or related field preferred; seminary training a plus.
Meets biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9).
Work Schedule & Compensation
This is a full time position. Attendance at all major church functions is strongly encouraged. The target compensation range for this position is $60k - $65k.
